Today
was the first day out of the office.
My Community Environmental Conservation (CEC) Peace Corps trainee group
went to visit a current CEC volunteer’s site in the Parque Nacional
Chagres. She lives on a beautiful
peninsula overlooking the Chagres River.
To get to her site we had to cross the river in boats that were carved
out of a single piece of tree trunk.
The group went on a hike in the park, checked out the projects she’s
currently working on, and visited a nearby Ngobe (one of Panama’s indigenous
groups) community. Panamanian women separating rice from their stalks |
